Sporcle's 2022 Year in Review

To paraphrase Taylor Swift: we don’t know about you, but we’re still reeling from 2022. Around the globe, COVID continued to spread and mutate, climate change brought about record-breaking heat waves, and the world population reached eight billion people. From across the pond, we witnessed the death of a queen who defined the British monarchy for 70 years, a head of lettuce outlast Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak—the UK’s first-ever prime minister of color—take office, all in the last few months. Russia invaded Ukraine, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, and Mahsa Amini’s death sparked women’s rights protests in Iran.

Through it all, we kept the light on at Sporcle, and at least appeared to have marginally more success with this than Elon Musk did on Twitter. The biggest change we made, of which you’re all probably aware, was the Great Website Redesign of 2022. We have added and updated some features, moved and removed some others, and we continue to make tweaks in response to your valued feedback. We changed our logo (twice!), streamlining and modernizing the orange globe that everyone has come to love.

Off the website, we partnered with Netflix to bring the interactive Triviaverse experience to your screens. Oh, and we held the inaugural SporcleCon in Washington, D.C., in September! Thanks to all of you, the event was a huge success, and we are all eagerly preparing for and anticipating SporcleCon 2023. This coming year, we’re also working on a new flagship Sporcle app and many more site features for you to enjoy.
