We’re through with 2022, and it was a pretty exciting year for Sporcle. We redesigned the website, hosted our first ever Sporclecon event, and you all played a bunch of quizzes (over 513 million if you’re keeping track at home)!
We took some time to really reflect back on the year that was in our Sporcle 2022 Year in Review post, but we wanted to also continue our tradition of listing out the top quizzes of the year.
In this post, we’re looking back on some of the top quizzes that have been played, published, and created in 2022. We’ve broken things down into the following categories: Top Quizzes Played in 2022, Top Quizzes Published in 2022, Top Quizzes Made in 2022, and Top Quizzes Made in 2022 (Non-Minefield).
To start things off, you’ll note that Find the US States – No Outlines Minefield, Find the Countries of Europe – No Outlines Minefield, and Countries of the World take the top three spots for most played quizzes of 2022. This really isn’t a surprise, as these three quizzes are consistently among our most played quizzes each and every day.
It is also pretty obvious that geography isn’t going anywhere on Sporcle. 13 of the top 15 most played quizzes in 2022 were all in that category. And 12 of the top 15 quizzes actually published in 2022 were geography quizzes.
Though our lists are dominated by geography quizzes, we do see some other topics mixed throughout. Genshin Impact and the MCU both have a couple quizzes featured, and we can’t ignore classics like US Presidents and the NBA Logic Puzzle.
Complete the Map Snippet, Secret Country Blitzes, and Weakest Link are a few of the user playlists that feature multiple quizzes in our lists, as do newer series like Name Just One – 10 to 1 and Batch Blitz.
Overall it was another great year of quiz making. From new up-and-coming quiz makers finding success, to website legends creating fresh and innovative new quizzes, you all are amazing and we thank you for making Sporcle such a special place. Onward to 2023!

*Do keep in mind that determining a “top quiz” can be a bit relative. We all have different ideas of what makes a great quiz. So each year we make these lists, we simply look at what quizzes are played the most, realizing that quiz plays are not necessarily the only measure of success. But we have to go with some sort of criteria though.
